Dr. Nicholas Zekpa

Director of Economic and Social Policy Research

Dr. Nicholas Zekpa is a professor of Economics at the University of Gabon and the first Permanent secretary of the National Climate Council, where he is responsible for policy analysis (Gabon 2025). He was the economic advisor at the Prime Minister’s office and special advisor to the ministers of Finance and Economic planning, Social Protection and the former head of the national social safety net program.

Prior to that he was special advisor to the Executive Director of the Francophoe countries, at the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) board of directors office and economist at the the IMF Africa area department. At the IMF, he reviewed board documents on Staff Monitored Programs, Enhance Credit Facilities etc and participated in board meetings at the request of the Executive Director. He participated in policy dialogue with member countries regarding artical IV consultations, and authored several articles in verious economic journals and presented economic development papers at conferences in Africa and Europe.

Dr. Zekpa obtained his doctorate and masters’ degrees from the University of Nancy, France and Bachelor degree from the University of Omar Bongo at Libreville, Gabon.
